MECHANICAL PROCESSING 

The concept of processing of materials by cutting refers to a series of mechanical processing procedures through which a final piece is realised whose added material will be removed with the help of tools with cutting edges.

 

In order to develop a single finished workpiece, in the process of mechanical machining by cutting, tools with cutting edges, machine tools will be used that ensure continuous and reciprocal movements between the tool and the workpiece.

 

In order to completely remove the surplus material, two movements are mainly used to help achieve a finished piece of a high quality obtained through the process of mechanical machining through cutting. The two movements are: the main cutting movement, which effectively leads to the removal of the processing additive and the secondary movement which has the role of bringing layers of material in front of the cutting edge of the processing tool.

 

There are many number of cutting processes and these differ in the way the cutting movements are performed, the tools used, the machine tools on which is made.

 

However, the most used procedures are: turning, milling, drilling, planing, grinding. Other known processes for cutting are: boring, broiling, honing, super-finishing, polishing.

 

The processing of materials by cutting can be done on flat, cylindrical or profiled surfaces using classical milling machines or CNC milling machines. Moreover, the drill can make simple, tapered, stepped or special holes. The finishing of a piece is realised by rectifying the surface which can be flat, round external and internal rectification and rectification in coordinates.
